In the world of PC gaming, choosing the right GPU is critical for ensuring a smooth and immersive experience. With so many options available, it’s a competitive market where each brand aims to offer the best in terms of performance and value for money. Today, we’ll be comparing two popular midrange gaming cards: the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super and the AMD Radeon RX 5700. Let’s dive into their specifications, pros, cons, and ultimately determine which one is the better choice.

Specifications

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super:

– Base clock speed: 1470 MHz

– Boost clock speed: 1650 MHz

– CUDA Cores: 2176

– Memory: 8 GB GDDR6

– Memory Bandwidth: 448 GB/s

AMD Radeon RX 5700:

– Base clock speed: 1465 MHz

– Boost clock speed: 1625 MHz

– Stream Processors: 2304

– Memory: 8 GB GDDR6

– Memory Bandwidth: 448 GB/s

Performance

The performance of these two graphics cards is quite similar on paper, with the main difference being the number of CUDA Cores and Stream Processors. The RTX 2060 Super has more CUDA cores, which may give it an edge in some scenarios. However, the difference in real-world gaming performance is not that significant.

Both GPUs can comfortably handle gaming at resolutions of up to 1440p on high settings with relatively high frame rates. However, when it comes to ray tracing support – a selling point for RTX cards – the RTX 2060 Super outshines its rival as AMD Radeon RX 5700 does not offer native ray tracing support.

Price

Both GPUs fall into the midrange price bracket, and there might be some fluctuation depending on the specific cards from various AIB partners. As of now, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super is priced slightly higher due to the additional features and better ray tracing performance it offers.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the choice between these two graphics cards largely depends on what you value more in a GPU. If you’re looking for ray tracing support and slightly better overall performance, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super is worth a consideration. On the other hand, if your primary focus is traditional gaming and you’d like to save a few bucks, then AMD Radeon RX 5700 could be an excellent choice.
