Motorola Moto G6 review: A budget phone shouldn’t be this good

In today’s market, dominated by expensive flagship smartphones, it’s refreshing to find a budget phone that performs beyond expectations. Enter the Motorola Moto G6, a device which has garnered much attention for its exceptional balance between price and performance.

Design and Build

The Moto G6 is crafted with glass and metal, giving it a sleek and premium look. It sports a 5.7-inch IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution. Accompanying its vibrant colors and good brightness are slim bezels which make for comfortable one-handed use.

Performance

Under the hood, the Moto G6 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor along with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, depending on the model. In real-world usage, this configuration provides smooth multitasking capabilities and handles everyday tasks with ease. Don’t expect it to deliver flagship-level performance, but know that it does an excellent job at its price range.

Camera

One of the standout features of the G6 is its dual-camera setup on the back – a 12MP primary sensor accompanied by a 5MP depth sensor. The camera app boasts various features such as portrait mode and selective focus, which happens to produce impressive results most of the time. Its front-facing 8MP camera also delivers decent selfies that cater to social media junkies.

Battery Life

The Moto G6 is equipped with a sizable 3000mAh battery, giving it respectable endurance. With moderate usage, you can expect the device to last a full day on a single charge without any problems.

Software

Running on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box (with promises of an Android Pie update), the software experience is as close to stock Android as possible. In addition to snappy performance, Motorola offers useful tweaks such as gesture controls and Moto Display, which help enrich the overall user experience.

Verdict

The Motorola Moto G6 is proof that a budget phone can be more than just a basic smartphone. Its combination of a head-turning design, reliable performance, and robust camera capabilities make it a true contender in the budget segment. If you’re in the market for an affordable yet reliable smartphone, the Moto G6 should definitely be on your list.
