MLB Playoffs: How to Watch the Wild Card Games Today Without Cable

Baseball fans across the nation are gearing up for a thrilling set of Wild Card games in the Major League Baseball playoffs. It’s an exciting time, but not everyone has cable. Fortunately, in the digital age, there are several options available for catching all the action live without needing a traditional TV subscription.

First, major streaming services like YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV, and AT&T TV NOW offer live MLB broadcasts, including the playoffs and Wild Card games. These services often come with free trial periods for new users, making it possible to watch the games at no cost if you sign up at the right time. The availability of games may vary based on regional restrictions and your location.

For those committed to following every pitch without long-term commitments, MLB.TV is the way to go. Although it’s typically used for regular-season games, during the playoffs subscribers can listen to live audio broadcasts and watch a full replay of the game shortly after it ends. For live video access in real-time during the Wild Card games, MLB.TV subscribers will need to authenticate through one of the supported cable or satellite providers.

Another option is to use digital antennas; these devices pick up over-the-air broadcasts from networks like FOX and ESPN that often carry playoff games. While this requires a bit of hardware, it’s a one-time purchase that offers free access to televised sports on major networks.

Don’t forget about social media platforms and sports apps either. Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit sometimes share highlights or even live streams of big sporting events through official MLB pages or fan-shared content. The MLB At Bat app provides game day audio and in-game highlights as well which is perfect for those on-the-go.

Lastly, local bars and restaurants frequently broadcast playoff games. Check out establishments near you that are known for showing sports events — it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the game with fellow fans.

Whether you’re at home or on the move, these options ensure you won’t miss out on any of the excitement of today’s Wild Card matchups in the MLB playoffs. Just pick your platform and get ready for some baseball!
