Mattel’s ‘Wicked’ Movie Dolls Mistakenly List Porn Site on Packaging

Mattel, the toy giant behind beloved brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels, is facing a rather embarrassing situation. The packaging for its upcoming “Wicked” movie dolls, inspired by the highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical, has been discovered to feature a URL leading to a pornographic website.

The error, believed to be a result of a rogue barcode, was first spotted by eagle-eyed fans on social media. Images of the packaging, showing the incorrect URL prominently displayed alongside the dolls, quickly went viral.

Mattel has issued a statement acknowledging the mistake and apologizing for any offense caused. “We are deeply sorry for this error and for any distress it may have caused,” the statement read. “We are taking immediate steps to remove all affected packaging from circulation and replace it with corrected versions.”

The company further explained that the mistake was a result of a “technical error during the printing process,” and that they have “strict quality control procedures” in place to prevent such incidents.

While Mattel is taking steps to rectify the situation, the incident has sparked online outrage and ridicule. The company, known for its family-friendly products, is facing criticism for a lack of oversight and quality control. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of rigorous checks and balances, especially when dealing with products intended for children.

Mattel’s “Wicked” movie dolls are slated for release alongside the film’s theatrical premiere in November. While the company strives to correct this embarrassing blunder, the incident will likely leave a lasting impression on both consumers and industry experts alike.
