Introduction

In a heartwarming initiative that has become a cherished tradition, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) is now accepting nominations for its 31st Annual Bicycle Giveaway. This program aims to bring joy to children in need during the holiday season by providing them with brand-new bicycles.

Main Body

Since its inception in 1992, the LPSO’s Bicycle Giveaway has distributed over 5,500 bicycles to families in need throughout the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux area. Last year alone, 225 bicycles were given to children, making their holiday season brighter and more memorable.

Sheriff Craig Webre expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s program, emphasizing the positive impact it has on the community. “The Bicycle Giveaway is one of our most beloved traditions,” said Sheriff Webre. “It brings immense joy to the children and their families, and it’s a wonderful way for us to give back to the community.”

The program relies on nominations from the public to identify children who would benefit from receiving a bicycle. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations for children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to receive such a gift. The nomination process is simple, and forms can be submitted online or in person at the LPSO office.

In addition to the bicycles, the program also provides helmets and safety information to ensure that the children can enjoy their new bikes safely. Local businesses and organizations have generously supported the initiative through donations and sponsorships, helping to make the program a continued success.

The Bicycle Giveaway has become a symbol of community spirit and generosity in the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux area. It brings together law enforcement, local businesses, and residents in a collective effort to spread holiday cheer and support those in need.

Conclusion

The LPSO’s 31st Annual Bicycle Giveaway is a testament to the power of community and the joy of giving. As nominations are accepted and preparations are made, the program promises to bring smiles to the faces of many children this holiday season. By coming together to support this initiative, the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux community continues to demonstrate its commitment to kindness and generosity.
