If Yellowstone Ends This Year, It Will Have Lived, Died and Never Hit Paramount Plus

Introduction:

For many television fans and viewers alike, the popular TV series Yellowstone has been an intriguing and engaging show that has left the audience wanting more. However, if the series were to conclude this year, it would bode a bittersweet farewell as it will have lived, died, and never reached the streaming platform Paramount Plus.

The Journey of Yellowstone:

Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone made its debut on June 20, 2018, on the Paramount Network. Since then, it has garnered a dedicated fanbase along with consistently high ratings. The show revolves around the complexities faced by the Dutton family as they defend their large cattle ranch in Montana from outside threats.

Paramount Plus – The Streaming Platform that Missed Out:

Launched by ViacomCBS on March 4, 2021, Paramount Plus is a streaming platform that offers thousands of episodes and movies from ViacomCBS’s library. Despite being a sister company to the Paramount Network, Yellowstone never made it to the platform’s offerings. Instead, fans must turn to other sources like Peacock to catch up on past episodes.

Why Paramount Plus Missed Out on Yellowstone:

At first glance, it may seem perplexing as to why a hit show like Yellowstone never became part of Paramount Plus; after all, both the show and streaming platform are owned by ViacomCBS. The reason lies in distribution rights – before ViacomCBS merged Vivo CBS Inc. with Viacom Inc., they had sold Yellowstone’s streaming rights to NBCUniversal. As a result, once Paramount Plus was formed following the merger, those distribution rights still belonged to NBCUniversal.

Final Thoughts:

All good things must come to an end at some point; for fans of Yellowstone or just passionate viewers who plan to binge-watch the series someday, unfortunately now might be the time. But like other great shows that have come and gone, Yellowstone has left an everlasting impact on its viewership.

Whether or not Yellowstone concludes this year remains to be seen. Nevertheless, one truth persists – it will leave its mark as a thought-provoking and captivating series that will have lived and died without ever gracing the screens on Paramount Plus.
