1.Choose the right song: Select a song that suits your voice and vocal range. Make sure it’s a crowd-pleaser and one that you can confidently perform.

2.Practice, practice, practice: The more familiar you are with the song, the more confident you’ll be on stage. Spend time practicing your chosen song until you know every word and note.

3.Work on vocal techniques: Improve your singing by focusing on proper breathing, pitch control, and enunciation. Take voice lessons or watch YouTube tutorials to enhance your vocal skills.

4.Plan your performance: Visualize how you want to move on stage and interact with the audience. Decide whether you want to go for an energetic vibe or a more controlled and emotional delivery.

5.Dress for success: Coordinate your outfit to match the mood of the song or choose something that makes you feel confident and comfortable on stage.

6.Arrive early: Get acquainted with the venue, sign up for a spot in the performance order, and test out the sound system if possible.

7.Warm up your voice: Do some vocal exercises before taking the stage to ensure your voice is properly warmed up and ready to sing.

8.Engage the audience: Make eye contact with people in the crowd, smile, and use body language to win them over.

9.Perform with confidence: Own the stage with a poised presence. Believe in yourself, your voice, and your ability to deliver a memorable performance.

10.Add flair and style: Show off your unique personality in your performance—whether it’s through energetic dance moves, emotional storytelling, or clever ad-libs.

11.Handle mistakes gracefully: If you make an error during your performance, don’t let it derail you; recover quickly and keep moving forward.

12.Support fellow competitors: Applaud others’ performances and be gracious whether you win or lose. Your sportsmanship can make a positive impression on both the audience and judges.

13.Learn from the experience: Regardless of the outcome, use your karaoke contest experience to improve your technique and stage presence for future performances.

By following these 13 steps, you’ll be well on your way to winning over the crowd and taking home the top prize in a karaoke contest. Keep honing your skills and enjoy the thrill of performing.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
