How to Use Slack Strikethrough

Slack is a popular communication tool used by many teams and companies for messaging and collaboration. One of the great features of Slack is the ability to format text in various ways to add emphasis and clarity to your messages. One such formatting option is strikethrough, which allows you to cross out or strike through text to indicate that it is no longer relevant or accurate.

Here’s how to use Slack strikethrough:

  1. Type your message in the Slack message box.
  2. To strikethrough a word, put two tildes (~) on either side of the word. For example, if you want to strikethrough the word “delete,” type.
  3. To strikethrough an entire sentence or phrase, put two tildes on either side of the sentence or phrase. For example, if you want to strikethrough the sentence “We need to delete the old files,” type.

That’s it! Your text will now be displayed with a line through it, indicating that it has been struck through. This is a great way to show that you have changed your mind about something or that certain information is no longer accurate.

In addition to strikethrough, Slack also offers other formatting options such as bold, italic, and underline. To use these options, simply use the appropriate characters before and after the text you want to format. For example, to bold text, use asterisks (*) on either side of the text: this text will be bold.

In conclusion, Slack strikethrough is a useful tool for indicating changes in information or decisions. It’s easy to use and can help keep your team on the same page. Give it a try the next time you need to make a correction or update in your Slack messages!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
