Instagram is a popular social media application that allows users to share their lives, interests, and content with their followers. The app recently introduced a new feature called “Close Friends” to enable users to publish stories to a select group of people rather than all their followers. The Close Friends feature tends to create a closer and more personal relationship with your followers. Hence, this article will detail how to use Instagram’s Close Friends feature.

Step 1: Add Friends to your Close Friends list

To use Instagram’s Close Friends feature, start by creating a list of followers you want to add to the group. This way, you can choose who sees which of your stories. To do this, navigate to your Instagram profile, and click on the three-horizontal-line icon located on your profile’s top-right corner. From the pop-up menu options, click on “Close Friends.”

Next, you will see a “Suggestions” tab, a “Add” tab, and “Remove” tab. Go through the suggestions list, select the followers you want to add to your Close Friends list, and tap on the ‘Add’ icons. Additionally, you can also add friends to your Close Friends list by tapping on the search bar to find them manually.

Step 2: Share Stories with your Close Friends list

Once you have selected your close friends on Instagram, you can share your stories with them by following the steps below:

1. Capture the content you want to share or upload it from your camera roll by tapping the camera icon.

2. Once you have your content, go ahead and edit it if necessary

3. When you are satisfied with the video or picture, tap on “Your Story” under the “Send To” tab.

4. From there, you will see an option that asks, “Close Friends.” Click that option.

5. Finally, tap on the green “Send” icon to share your story with your close friends.

Step 3: Control Access and Manage List

You can also control who can view your Close Friends list by navigating to your profile’s ‘Close Friends’ feature and clicking on the ‘settings’ icon in the top-right corner. This allows you to remove someone from your list if you need to, and also add more friends.

It’s also worth noting that when you share a story with your Close Friends, it will appear in their Instagram inbox, and they can only view it within 24 hours before it disappears.

In conclusion, Instagram’s Close Friends feature is a great way to share your stories with your most trusted friends while keeping other followers out of the loop. Following the above-listed steps will help you effectively use this feature and streamline your Instagram presence.
