How To Use Gamified Microlearning Activities To Boost The Impact Of Your Corporate Training

The trends of gamification and microlearning have become essential to the evolution of online corporate training modules. The combination of the two could take your corporate training to a completely new level. With the application of gamified microlearning activities in your corporate training modules, you could boost both interest and retention in a way that will lead to increased efficacy and efficiency from those workers utilizing the modules.

It’s already been proven in multiple studies that bite-sized chunks of training helps to combat the decreased overall attention spans of the online generation. Microlearning is built for the on-the-go learner who doesn’t have hours to devote to a single sitting. Furthermore, it can be more effective for those learners who are spread too thin in their daily lives.

By adding popular game tropes and structures to microlearning, you can strike a perfect balance for learners who are used to mobile games and don’t have the time and attention to devote to interminably long corporate training modules. 

Giving Corporate Learners An Experience They Will Remember

The problem with corporate learning modules of the past lies in their information-rich, entertainment-poor presentations. That kind of presentation simply doesn’t engage learners in the meaningful way necessary for them to retain and utilize concepts to their fullest extent.

Gamified microlearning activities are a fantastic evolution in corporate learning modules that sacrifice length for impact. Rather than bombarding corporate learners, these microlearning activities give them short and sweet experiences that challenge them and entertain them.

By stimulating the same parts of the brain learners use to play mobile games or browse their social media outlets, gamified microlearning activities meet corporate learners where they are at. They don’t force learners to think in ways that are uncomfortable.

Rather, they use game structures and easily-digestible chunks of information to mimic their current online habits and boost retention. By giving them an experience rather than a lecture, you’re giving corporate learners a middle ground to stand upon while they absorb key concepts that benefit your business.

How Can You Implement Gamified Microlearning Activities In Your Corporate Training?

The first step to implementing gamified microlearning activities in your corporate training module is to identify the microlearning chunks that need to be presented to your cache of corporate learners. What exactly do they need to learn?

Once you have those ideas and concepts mapped out, you can start to build gamified structures to teach those concepts. Depending on the content and the skills that need to be developed, you can tailor different game structures that best teach the particular content.

Whether it’s leaderboard structures that rank different learners by the strength of test results or watch-and-play games that bring learners forward into the experience of learners, there are a wide variety of gamified microlearning structures out there.

Concluding Thoughts

By identifying what needs to be taught and thinking like the developer of a mobile game, you can reach corporate learners in a way that traditional corporate learning modules simply cannot.
