How to Trim Sideburns When You’re Growing Out Your Hair

Growing out your hair can be a tricky process, especially when it comes to maintaining sideburns. Often, a well-maintained sideburn can add a polished touch to your overall look. On the other hand, letting them grow out without proper care might result in an unkempt appearance. Here’s a guide on how to trim your sideburns while growing out your hair.

1.Gather the Necessary Tools

To trim your sideburns effectively, you need the right tools. Here’s a list of the essentials:

– Hair clippers with adjustable guard lengths

– Scissors specifically designed for trimming hair (such as barber shears)

– A comb with fine teeth

– A hand-held mirror or wall-mounted mirror to provide multiple angles

2.Wash and Dry Your Hair

Start by washing and drying your hair to ensure that it is clean and free of any styling products. This will allow for easier trimming and provide more accurate results.

3.Comb Your Sideburns

Using the fine-toothed comb, comb your sideburns in the direction they naturally grow. This will help you identify any inconsistencies and make trimming easier.

4.Set the Clippers Guard Length

Begin by setting the clipper guard length according to your desired sideburn length. If you’re unsure about which length to choose, start with a longer guard and gradually work your way down if necessary.

5.Trim Your Sideburns with Clippers

Stand in front of the mirror and hold the clippers at a 90-degree angle against your skin, parallel to your jawline. Gently move the clippers upward, trimming away any excess hair while following the natural shape of your face.

Take care not to trim too close to your hairline, as this can lead to uneven results.

6.Check for Symmetry

After you’ve trimmed both sideburns with the clippers, make sure they are symmetrical. Use your hand-held mirror or another reflective surface to check the sideburns from various angles.

7.Refine with Scissors

For a more precise and polished finish, use your hair scissors to trim any stray hairs or create softer lines at the edges of your sideburns. Be sure to do this delicately and slowly to avoid over-trimming.

8.Maintain Your Sideburn Length

Growing out your hair doesn’t mean neglecting your sideburns. In order to prevent any issues caused by an excess of hair growth, make sure to routinely trim and maintain your sideburns as your hair grows out.

In conclusion, growing out your hair requires attention not just to the length of your locks but also to the maintenance of your sideburns. With the right tools and techniques, you can easily keep them well-groomed and looking sharp.
