If you own a Dell laptop, you may be wondering how you can track it in the event that it gets lost or stolen. Thankfully, Dell offers a few tools that can help you do just that. In this article, we’ll go over the steps you can take to track your Dell laptop.

Step 1: Enable Find My Device in Windows 10

If you’re using Windows 10 on your Dell laptop, you can use the built-in Find My Device feature to track your laptop’s location. Here’s how to enable it:

1. Click the Start button and select Settings.

2. Click Update & Security.

3. Click Find My Device.

4. Toggle the switch to On.

Note that you’ll need to have a Microsoft account and be signed in to enable Find My Device.

Step 2: Sign in to Dell Support Assist

Dell’s Support Assist program can help you track your laptop as well. Here’s how to sign in and use the feature:

1. Go to Dell’s Support Assist website.

2. Click the Sign In button in the upper-right corner.

3. Enter your Dell account credentials and click Sign In.

4. Click the Devices tab.

5. Find your laptop in the list and click the Track and Locate button.

If your laptop is currently online and connected to the internet, you should see its location on a map.

Step 3: Install Prey

Prey is a third-party app that you can install on your Dell laptop to track it. Here’s how to get started:

1. Go to the Prey website.

2. Click the Download for Free button.

3. Follow the instructions to install the app on your laptop.

4. Once installed, sign in to Prey using your Prey account credentials.

5. You should now be able to track your laptop’s location using Prey’s website or mobile app.

Conclusion

Tracking your Dell laptop is an important step to take if you want to make sure you can find it if it gets lost or stolen. By enabling Find My Device in Windows 10, signing in to Dell Support Assist, or installing Prey, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to track your laptop’s location if necessary. And, of course, be sure to keep your laptop password-protected to make it harder for potential thieves to access your data.
