In this digital age, we have everything we need right at our fingertips, including the ability to control our home lighting with just our smartphones. Switching lights on or off with your phone is a convenient and inexpensive way to upgrade your home lighting without breaking the bank. In this article, we will explore how to switch lights on or off with your phone on the cheap.

#1 – Smart Light Bulbs

One of the simplest ways to control your lights with your phone is to switch your traditional bulbs with smart bulbs. Smart bulbs connect to your Wi-Fi network and work with Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri-enabled devices, allowing you to control the lights with your voice or phone. Smart bulbs come in different shades, including white light and full-color options, making them a great option for creating the perfect ambiance in your home.

#2 – Smart Plugs

Another affordable way to switch lights on or off with your phone is to use a smart plug. A smart plug works as an adapter, easily plugging into your wall socket and allowing you to plug your traditional bulbs into the smart plug. Smart plugs also connect to your Wi-Fi network and work with Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri-enabled devices, making it easy to control your lights with your voice or phone.

#3 – Smart Light Switches

If you’re looking to upgrade your light switches, a smart light switch is a great option. Smart light switches replace your traditional switches and connect to your Wi-Fi network, allowing you to control the lights with your phone. Smart light switches require some electrical knowledge to install, but if you hire an electrician, it should still be a relatively cheap upgrade.

#4 – Wireless Light Switch

If you’re not comfortable with the idea of replacing your light switches, you can still control your lights with a wireless or remote-controlled switch. A wireless light switch is a battery-powered device that you can stick to the wall, making it easy to switch lights on or off without having to walk to the switch. Some wireless switches work with voice assistants, while others come with a remote control.

#5 – Smart Home Hubs

If you have multiple smart devices in your home, including light bulbs and switches, a smart home hub could be a smart investment. A smart home hub, such as the Echo Plus or Samsung SmartThings, allows you to control all your smart devices with one app, making it easy to switch lights on or off with your phone. A smart home hub can be more expensive than the other options on this list, but it’s a great investment if you plan on adding more smart devices to your home in the future.

In conclusion, switching lights on or off with your phone is an affordable and convenient way to upgrade your home lighting. Whether you decide on using smart light bulbs, smart plugs, smart light switches, wireless switches or a smart home hub, you can gear up your home for modern living without breaking the bank.
