How to Suggest a Friend on Facebook on Desktop and Mobile

Facebook has long been a platform for connecting people. At one time, it allowed users to “suggest friends” to their network, streamlining the process of expanding one’s social circle. However, the explicit “Suggest Friends” feature is no longer available as Facebook has updated its functionalities. But there are still indirect ways you can suggest friends to others, both on desktop and mobile platforms.

On Desktop:

1. Go to the profile of the friend you want to suggest.

2. Click on the “Friends” button under their cover photo.

3. From the drop-down menu, select “Share Friends”.

4. You’ll be given a list of your own friends, and you can choose whom you want to share this friend with.

5. After selecting friends, click on ‘Send’ in the bottom-right corner of the dialogue.

Alternatively:

1. Copy the URL of your friend’s profile from your web browser.

2. Send this URL through a Facebook message or post it on another friend’s timeline along with a personal message.

On Mobile:

The mobile methods are similar since there is no option to directly suggest a friend within the Facebook app or mobile website.

1. Visit the profile of the person you want to suggest.

2. Tap on “Friends” below their profile information.

3. Select “Share Friends” if available or simply tap ‘Share’ to send them a link via Messenger.

4. Choose a friend or group of friends from your list.

5. Send them a message with the link attached.

Alternatively:

1. Go to your friend’s profile page and copy the link.

2. Paste this link into a message or post it along with a personalized recommendation.

Please Note: Be respectful when sharing someone’s profile information and seek their permission before doing so if possible.acebook periodically updates its interface and features; thus, these instructions could change in the future.

Always check for the most current methods available within Facebook’s help center or settings options as this reflects information available as of my knowledge cutoff in early 2023.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
