How to Strikethrough on Discord on Desktop and Mobile
Strikethrough is a text style that puts a horizontal line through the center of the text. It’s used to indicate that something is unavailable, incorrect, deleted, or for stylistic purposes. In Discord, whether you’re chatting on desktop or mobile, you have the ability to apply this text styling to convey your message differently.
On both Discord for desktop and mobile, strikethrough formatting is accomplished with Markdown syntax – the same lightweight markup language used on platforms like Reddit and GitHub.
Here’s how to do it:
Desktop:
1. Open Discord on your desktop.
2. Navigate to the chat where you want to send a strikethrough message.
3. To create strikethrough text, type two tildes (`~~`) before and after the text. Make sure there are no spaces between the tildes and your text. Like so: ~~This will be strikethrough.~~
4. After typing your message, hit “Enter” to send it. Your text will appear in the chat with a strikethrough.
Mobile:
1. Open the Discord app on your mobile device.
2. Go to the server or direct message where you want to use strikethrough.
3. The process is similar to desktop: type your message with two tildes before and after the intended strikethrough content without spaces. Example: ~~Strikethrough on mobile too!~~
4. Send your message by tapping the send icon.
That’s all there is to it! Just remember not to leave any spaces between your tildes and text, or else the Markdown won’t apply, and your text will not be formatted with a striket hrough.
