How to See Who’s Using Your Personal Hotspot on an iPhone or iPad
Personal hotspots have become essential features in modern smartphones, and iPhones are not left out. An iPhone or iPad can be used as a personal hotspot to connect other devices to the internet through cellular data. However, you may want to know who’s connected to your hotspot to manage your data usage and improve security. In this article, we will explore how to see who’s using your personal hotspot on an iPhone or iPad.
Step 1: Open the Settings App
To view the connected devices to your personal hotspot, you have to access the settings app on your iPhone or iPad. The app is identified with a gear icon and is usually located on the home screen. Tap on the gear icon, and the settings menu will display.
Step 2: Choose Personal Hotspot
After opening the settings app, scroll down until you locate the Personal Hotspot section, which is usually located towards the bottom. Tap on the Personal Hotspot option to open it.
Step 3: View Connected Devices
In the Personal Hotspot menu, you’ll see the number of devices connected to your hotspot. Tap on the blue text displaying the number of connected devices, and a new screen listing the devices will display. You will be able to see the name of the connected device and the IP address assigned to it by the hotspot.
Note that the list would only display devices connected to your hotspot at the time you’re checking it. If a device is no longer connected, it won’t show up in the list anymore.
Step 4: Disconnect Linked Devices
If you’ve checked the connected devices list and discovered that some devices you don’t recognize are connected to your hotspot, you have the option to disconnect them. To do this, swipe the device from the list to the left, and a red “Disconnect” button will display. Tap on the button to remove the device from your hotspot.
