As a user of Windows 11, you might have found yourself wondering how to check the history of your PC’s startup and shutdown times. Knowing the exact timestamp of your PC’s startup and shutdown can be helpful in troubleshooting any issues or in tracking the usage of the system. In this article, we will guide you on how to view the PC’s startup and shutdown history in Windows 11.

Method 1: Using Event Viewer

Event Viewer is a built-in utility in Windows 11 that allows users to view detailed information about system events and logs. It can also track the startup and shutdown events of your PC. Here’s how to use Event Viewer to check the PC’s startup and shutdown history:

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: In the Run dialog box, type ‘eventvwr.msc’ and hit Enter. This will open the Event Viewer.

Step 3: On the left-hand panel, click on ‘Windows Logs’ and then select ‘System’.

Step 4: On the right-hand panel, you will see a list of events that have occurred on your PC. To filter the events, click on the ‘Filter Current Log’ option on the right-hand panel.

Step 5: In the ‘Event sources’ field, select ‘User32’ and in the ‘Event IDs’ field, type ‘6006’ for shutdown events and ‘6009’ for startup events.

Step 6: Click on the ‘OK’ button to apply the filter. You will now see a list of shutdown and startup events with their exact timestamps.

Method 2: Using Command Prompt

Another way to check the startup and shutdown history of your PC is through the Command Prompt. This method involves using the ‘systeminfo’ command in Command Prompt. Follow these steps to view the PC’s startup and shutdown history:

Step 1: Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard and select ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ from the menu.

Step 2: In the Command Prompt window, type ‘systeminfo’ and hit Enter.

Step 3: The Command Prompt will now display detailed system information, including the exact timestamps of the last system booted time and the system shutdown time.

Conclusion

Viewing the startup and shutdown history of your PC can be useful in troubleshooting any issues or tracking the usage of your system. With the above methods, you can easily check the exact timestamps of your PC’s startup and shutdown events using either the Event Viewer or Command Prompt. These methods are straightforward and can be completed even by users who are not very familiar with the technical aspects of their PC.
