As a Windows user, there may come a time when you encounter issues with your graphics driver. These issues can include lag, screen tearing, and various other visual glitches. If you’re experiencing any of these problems, the first step you should take is to reset your graphics driver. In this article, we’ll show you how to reset your graphics driver on Windows 10 and 11.

What is a Graphics Driver?

Before we delve into how to reset your graphics driver, let’s first talk about what it is. A graphics driver is a software program that enables your computer to communicate with your graphics card or integrated graphics processor. It’s responsible for rendering the images on your screen and ensuring that they’re displayed correctly. If your graphics driver is outdated or corrupt, it can cause a range of issues.

How to Reset Your Graphics Driver on Windows 10 and 11

The process of resetting your graphics driver on Windows 10 and 11 is relatively straightforward. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open the Device Manager

The first step is to open the Device Manager. You can do this by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting Device Manager from the menu.

Step 2: Locate Your Graphics Driver

Once you have the Device Manager open, you’ll need to locate your graphics driver. To do this, expand the Display adapters category by clicking on the arrow next to it. You should see your graphics card or integrated graphics processor listed here.

Step 3: Uninstall Your Graphics Driver

The next step is to uninstall your graphics driver. To do this, right-click on your graphics card and select Uninstall device from the menu. Windows will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall the driver; select Yes.

Step 4: Restart Your Computer

After you’ve uninstalled your graphics driver, you’ll need to restart your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver when you boot back up. Once your computer has restarted, check to see if the issue you were experiencing has been resolved.
