PDF files are a popular format for sharing documents, but they can be quite large in size. This can make it difficult to share them over email or other platforms. It can also take up a lot of space on your Mac’s hard drive. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the size of your PDF files without sacrificing quality. In this article, we will explore how to reduce the size of your PDF files on Mac without losing quality.

Method 1: Use Preview App

The Preview app on Mac has a built-in feature that allows you to compress your PDF files. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Open your PDF file using Preview. Select the file, right-click on it and choose “Open With > Preview” from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Click on the “File” menu in the top menu bar and select “Export”.

Step 3: In the export window, select “PDF” as the format and then click on the “Quartz Filter” dropdown.

Step 4: Select “Reduce File Size” from the dropdown. This will apply a filter to your PDF file that will reduce its size without affecting its quality.

Step 5: Finally, click on the “Save” button to save your compressed PDF file.

Method 2: Use Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat is a powerful tool for working with PDF files. It comes with a feature that allows you to reduce the size of your PDF files. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Open your PDF file using Adobe Acrobat. Select the file and then click on “File > Open” in the top menu bar.

Step 2: Click on the “File” menu in the top menu bar and select “Save As Other > Reduced Size PDF”.

Step 3: In the “Reduce File Size” window, select the options you want to apply to your PDF file. You can choose to compress images, downsample images, and remove embedded fonts and other elements.

Step 4: Click on the “OK” button to apply the selected options to your PDF file.

Step 5: Finally, click on the “Save” button to save your compressed PDF file.

Method 3: Use Online Tools

There are many online tools that allow you to compress your PDF files without losing quality. Here are some of the popular online tools you can use:

– Smallpdf: Smallpdf is a popular online tool that allows you to compress your PDF files without losing quality. Simply upload your file, wait for it to compress, and then download the compressed file.
