How to Reboot Your Router the Correct Way

If you’re experiencing problems with your home Wi-Fi, it’s quite possible that a simple router reboot could solve the issue. However, rebooting your router incorrectly can cause more problems than it solves, so it’s important to know the correct way to do it. Here’s how to reboot your router the right way:

Step 1: Turn off all devices connected to the router

Before you reboot your router, make sure that all devices connected to it are turned off. This includes your computer, smart TV, mobile devices, and any other device that uses your home Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Unplug the power cord

The next step is to unplug the power cord from your router. If you have an integrated modem and router, you will need to unplug them both. This will completely power off your router and disconnect it from the Internet.

Step 3: Wait a few seconds

Give your router and modem a few seconds to completely turn off. This will allow any residual electricity to dissipate.

Step 4: Plug the power cord back in

Reconnect the power cord to the router and modem, and wait for the lights to come back on. This may take a few seconds or a few minutes.

Step 5: Turn on your devices

Once the router and modem have fully rebooted, you can turn on your devices and reconnect them to your home Wi-Fi.

Step 6: Test your Wi-Fi

Now that you’ve rebooted your router, test your home Wi-Fi to see if the issue has been resolved. If not, there may be a more serious problem with your router or modem that requires professional assistance.
