How to Play Would You Rather: 11 Steps
1. Gather participants: Invite friends or family members to play Would You Rather. Aim for a group of at least three people, ideally four or more for diverse and interesting discussions.
2. Explain the rules: Share the basic premise of Would You Rather with everyone – participants take turns asking “Would You Rather” questions, and everyone else answers by choosing one of the two options presented.
3. Offer an example: Give an example question, such as “Would you rather go skydiving or deep-sea diving?” to illustrate the format and get people thinking about fun and creative questions.
4. Set boundaries and guidelines: Before starting the game, set a few ground rules regarding what types of questions are allowed. This ensures a comfortable environment for all players, especially when playing with mixed age groups.
5. Choose a turn order: Randomly decide the order in which players will ask their Would You Rather questions. This can be done by drawing numbers from a hat or simply deciding as a group which order feels most fair.
6. Begin with the first player: The first player asks their prepared question aloud, presenting two choices to everyone else in the group.
7. Answer individually: After the question is asked, give each player time to think and then answer individually which option they would choose. Players can explain their choice if they wish.
8. Discuss as a group: Encourage open discussion about why each person made their choice, keeping conversation respectful while learning more about one another’s perspectives.
9. Continue with the next player: Move on to the next player in turn order so that they can ask their question and continue generating thoughtful discussion.
10. Adapt gameplay for large groups: In larger groups, consider breaking into smaller teams that compete against each other by answering questions quickly or assigning points based on creative answers.
11. Have fun and learn about each other: The best part of Would You Rather is the opportunity for people to reveal their preferences, values, and beliefs through various hypothetical questions. Enjoy the conversations the game generates and use the experience as an opportunity to deepen your understanding of those around you.
