How to Play Simon Says: 10 Steps

Playing Simon Says is a classic childhood game that has been enjoyed by children and adults alike for generations. It’s an entertaining, simple, and easy-to-learn activity that can be played with family, friends, or even in large groups. If you’ve never played Simon Says before or are looking for a refresher, follow these ten steps:

1. Gather players: Simon Says can be played with just a few people or with a large group. Invite siblings, friends, or even classmates to play this engaging game.

2. Choose “Simon:” One person will take on the role of “Simon.” This individual will be responsible for giving directions and commands to the other players. Typically the oldest or most experienced player takes on this role initially.

3. Understand the rules: The person acting as “Simon” gives commands by saying “Simon says…” followed by an action (e.g., “Simon says jump in place”). Players must promptly perform the action. When an instruction is given without “Simon says,” players should not complete the action.

4. Stand facing each other: All players should stand facing each other so they can hear and see each other clearly. Choose an area with ample space for movement without any obstacles or distractions.

5. Listen carefully: Each player should pay close attention to what “Simon” is saying in order not to miss any commands or accidentally perform an invalid instruction.

6. Observe other players: In addition to listening to “Simon,” keep an eye on fellow players to ensure everyone is on the same page and following instructions correctly.

7. Stay alert for trick commands: Remember that “Simon” might try to deceive you by issuing similar-sounding commands disguised without the crucial “Simon says.” Don’t fall into their trap!

8. Be eliminated if you err: If a player follows a command without hearing “Simon says,” they are out of the game. The same goes for those who fail to complete a valid command.

9. Continue playing until one player remains: As players are eliminated, the game continues until there is only one person left standing – the winner.

10. Rotate “Simon” and play again: Once a round of Simon Says has ended, pass the role of “Simon” to another individual so everyone can take turns in this position. Play the game as many times as you like and embrace this enjoyable, interactive activity.

Remember that Simon Says is a game focused on listening skills, concentration, and adapting to instructions. It’s an excellent way for children to learn and practice these essential abilities while having fun with friends or family members. Enjoy playing this classic game and pass down the tradition to future generations!
