.Gather the necessary equipment:To play the game of 9 Ball Pool, you’ll need a standard pool table, set of the object balls numbered 1 through 9, a cue ball, and at least one player with a cue stick.

.Rack the balls in a diamond shape:Arrange the balls in a diamond shape with nine balls arranged in descending order from left to right (1 at the top, followed by 2 and 3, then 4,5 and 6, finally, ending with 7, 8 and 9 at the bottom).

.Determine the order of play:Flip a coin or have participants draw straws to establish who will break first in the game.

.Break shot:The first player takes aim at the diamond with the goal of hitting the cue ball into the top ball (the one ball). Legal break requires that either one ball is pocketed or four balls hit one or more rails.

.Establish an open table:After a player has executed a successful break shot, it becomes an open table. This means that players can legally shoot any ball as long as it is first contacted by their cue ball.

.Aim for the lowest numbered ball:In every shot after the break, you must strike the lowest numbered ball on the table first.

.Pocketing the balls:When you successfully pocket a numbered ball after hitting it first (followed by any other legal contact), you continue your turn; if not, your opponent will assume control.

.Combination shots:Players can make combination shots involving two or more balls as long as they hit the lowest numbered ball first and call their intended shot before executing it.

.Fouls:If you commit any of following fouls – scratching (pocketing) your cue ball, failing to hit lowest numbered ball first, or not driving any ball to a rail after contact – your opponent is awarded Ball-in-Hand and assumes control.

.Ball-in-Hand:When receiving the Ball-in-Hand, a player may place the cue ball anywhere on the table surface and shoot at the lowest numbered ball.

.Spotting balls:If either the 9-ball or cue ball is jumped off table during play, it must be spotted (replaced) before any subsequent shots can be taken.

.Foul penalties:Committing three consecutive fouls results in loss of game.

.Winning a game:A player wins when they pocket the 9-ball legally in any manner, such as directly or via combination shot, as long as they contact the lowest numbered ball first.

.Advanced strategy:As you become more proficient in playing 9 Ball Pool, improve your ability to plan ahead by examining layouts and angles before executing shots to comfortably reach successive balls.

.Practicing:By practicing regularly and patiently refining your shots, you will eventually develop greater precision and deeper understanding of the game – ultimately enhancing your enjoyment of 9 Ball Pool!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
