Pen tapping is a fun and creative way to make music using just a pen and a surface. It’s an excellent way to pass the time, especially during classes or long meetings when you have nothing else to do. Here are 9 easy steps to help you become a proficient pen tapper.

1.Choose the right pen: A good pen for tapping should have a sturdy body and a firm clip. The pen should also produce a clear, resonating sound when tapped on atable or any other hard surface.

2.Learn the basics: The basic moves in pen tapping involve hitting the surface with different parts of the pen to produce distinct sounds, such as:

   – Pad tap: Hitting the surface with the side of the gripping part of your pen.

   – Clip tap: Tapping the surface using the pen’s clip.

   – Cap tap: Striking the surface with the cap-end of the pen.

3.Hold the pen properly: Grip your pen between your index finger and thumb, letting it rest against your middle finger for support.

4.Develop rhythm: Practice different patterns of taps to establish a steady beat. For example, try a simple 4/4 rhythm by alternately tapping with the pad and cap of your pen.

5.Start simple: Begin by learning and practicing simple songs or beats before moving on to more complex tunes.

6.Explore various sounds: As you develop your skills, experiment with different surfaces and parts of the pen to create unique sounds – such as tapping on a notebook cover, desk, or even your own leg.

7.Add more pens for variety: Once you’re comfortable with one pen, try incorporating additional pens in your routine for added complexity and creative possibilities.

8.Share and learn from others: Look for online communities, tutorials, and videos where fellow pen tappers share their techniques and tips.

9.Practice, practice, practice: Ultimately, the key to becoming a skilled pen tapper is consistent practice. Dedicate time each day to honing your technique, and your rhythm and coordination will improve significantly over time.

Follow these 9 steps, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a master pen tapper. Enjoy the process, and have fun experimenting with this engaging form of musical expression!
