How to Pause or Delete Your Tinder Account

If you’re feeling overwhelmed with swiping, matches that don’t go anywhere, or you’ve just found that special someone, taking a break from your Tinder account might be a good idea. Luckily, Tinder allows you to either pause your account or delete it completely. Here’s how you can do both:

To Pause Your Tinder Account:

1. Open the Tinder app and tap on your profile icon at the top of the main screen.

2. Go to Settings by tapping the gear-shaped button.

3. Scroll down and you’ll find the ‘Show me on Tinder’ option with a switch next to it.

4. Toggle off the switch. This will make your profile invisible to other users.

Remember, when you pause your account, your matches and messages will be saved; however, other users won’t see your profile in their swipe queue.

To Delete Your Tinder Account:

1. Open the Tinder app and tap on your profile icon at the top of the main screen.

2. Tap on ‘Settings’.

3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and select ‘Delete Account’.

4. You’ll be prompted to give a reason why you’re leaving, which is optional.

5. Proceed with deletion by following any additional prompts.

After you delete your account, your profile, photos, matches, and messages will be completely gone. If you decide to return to Tinder later on, you’ll need to create a new account.

Before deleting your account, it’s important to note that if you’re a paying subscriber, you’ll have to cancel your subscription first through the app store where you’ve made the purchase in order to ensure that payments are not continued.

Taking control of your digital presence is important, and knowing how to pause or delete your Tinder account is part of that process. Whether it’s just a temporary break or a permanent goodbye to Tinder, following these steps will help guide you through the process with ease.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
