Tuna Helper is a popular convenience food that combines creamy sauce, pasta, and canned tuna for a quick and delicious meal. Here is a simple 10-step guide on how to make Tuna Helper at home.

1.Gather your ingredients:

– 1 box (6.4 oz) Tuna Helper

– 2 cups milk

– 1 1/2 cups hot water

– 10 oz canned tuna, drained

– Optional: additional vegetables or seasonings

2.Prepare the ingredients: Drain the canned tuna, measure your milk and hot water, and chop any additional vegetables you’d like to include.

3.Heat a large skillet over medium heat: Choose a skillet that’s non-stick and large enough to accommodate all the pasta and sauce.

4.Combine milk, water, and sauce mix: Add the required amounts of milk, water, and sauce mix from the Tuna Helper box into the skillet. Stir them well to ensure there are no lumps.

5.Bring the mixture to a boil: Turn up the heat slightly if necessary, and continue stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on it so that it doesn’t overflow.

6.Add pasta: Once the liquid starts boiling, pour in the uncooked pasta from the Tuna Helper box. Stir gently to combine.

7.Reduce heat and cover: Lower the heat so that the mixture maintains a gentle simmer rather than a full boil. Place a lid on top of the skillet.

8.Cook until pasta is tender: Let it cook for approximately 10-12 minutes or as directed on the package instructions, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

9.Add drained tuna (and additional vegetables if using): Remove the lid and stir in your drained canned tuna along with any optional vegetables you’d like to include.

10.Simmer for a few minutes: Allow the Tuna Helper to continue cooking for 2-3 more minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally to ensure thorough heating and even sauce distribution. Once the pasta is cooked to your desired tenderness, remove the skillet from heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes to thicken.

Enjoy! Serve your homemade Tuna Helper while hot and garnish it with some fresh herbs or grated cheese if desired. This quick and satisfying meal can easily be customized to your taste preferences, making it a go-to option for busy weeknights.
