How to Make Minnie Mouse Ears
Minnie Mouse is an iconic character loved by many around the world. One way fans show their love for Minnie is by donning her signature ears. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps on how to make Minnie Mouse ears at home.
– Black felt or foam
– Red or pink polka-dot fabric (or material of your choice)
– Sewing machine or needle and thread
– Fabric glue
– Headband (plain, preferably black, plastic or metal)
– Optional: cotton/polyester stuffing
Step 1: Create a template for the ears
First, draw a circular outline of the size you want Minnie’s ears to be on a piece of paper. Ensure that the circle is wide enough to provide ample space for sewing and attaching it to the headband. Cut out the circle and set it aside.
Step 2: Cut out felt circles
Trace your ear template onto black felt or foam using a pencil. You will need four felt circles, two for each ear. Carefully cut out the circles with your scissors.
Step 3: Assemble and sew the ears
Place two circles on top of one another, aligning their edges. Sew along the edge of your circles, leaving a small gap at the bottom open for attaching them to the headband later. If desired, add cotton/polyester stuffing before sealing completely for a more rounded appearance.
Step 4: Create the bow
Cut two rectangles from your chosen fabric (preferably polka-dot), one larger for the bow loops and one smaller for wrapping around its center. Fold each rectangle in half lengthwise with their right sides facing each other, and sew along three edges, making sure to leave one end open for turning right side out. Turn both rectangles right side out and press flat. Now, pinch the bigger rectangle in the middle to create a bow shape and wrap the smaller one around it, securing it with fabric glue or stitches.
Step 5: Attach ears and bow to the headband
Line up your completed ears along the headband and use fabric glue or stitches to attach them securely, making sure that they are symmetrically placed. Once your ears are attached, glue or sew your bow into place between them. Allow any glue to dry fully before wearing your Minnie Mouse ears.
Congratulations, you have now created your very own Minnie Mouse ears! Rock these charming accessories at Disney parks or events, snap some adorable photos, or gift them to friends and family. Enjoy showing off your DIY skills and celebrating this timeless character!
