Chai tea, a fragrant and flavourful Indian beverage, blends black tea with aromatic spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger. To create a deliciously smooth and creamy version, follow these six easy steps.

Step 1: Gather your ingredients

To make creamy chai tea, you’ll need:

– 2 cups of water

– 2 black tea bags

– 2 green cardamom pods

– 1 stick of cinnamon

– A small piece of ginger root

– 1/4 cup of sugar or honey (adjust to taste)

– 2 cups of milk (whole milk, almond milk, soy milk or any other milk alternative)

Step 2: Crush the spices

Using a mortar and pestle or the flat side of a knife, gently crush the cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and ginger root. Crushing the spices releases more flavors for a stronger chai tea.

Step 3: Boil water and steep the spices

Pour the water into a medium-sized saucepan and bring it to a boil. Add the crushed spices to the boiling water and let them steep for up to five minutes.

Step 4: Add the tea bags

After allowing the spices to steep, add the tea bags to your mixture. Let them brew for another three to five minutes. The tea will take on a deep amber color as it absorbs all the flavors.

Step 5: Sweeten with sugar or honey

Once your tea has brewed to your desired strength, stir in your preferred sweetener – sugar or honey. Adjust according to your taste preferences.

Step 6: Add milk and heat through

Pour in your selected milk alternative while stirring gently. Heat the entire mixture until it’s hot but not boiling. This ensures that all flavors are combined without scalding your creamy chai tea. Once heated, strain the tea into cups or mugs, and your beverage is ready.

Now, sit back and sip on your homemade creamy chai tea as you indulge in its warm, comforting flavors and aromas. It truly is a treat for your senses that can be enjoyed in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
