Step 1: Gather Your Materials

To make your own alcohol wipes, you’ll need the following:

– Isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher)

– A roll of paper towels or lint-free, absorbent cloth

– A resealable plastic bag or airtight container

– Measuring cup

– A pair of scissors (if using paper towels)

Step 2: Choose Your Paper Towels

Choose high-quality, thick paper towels for best results. Avoid using thin or rough-textured sheets, as they might not hold up well when soaked with alcohol.

Step 3: Cut the Paper Towels

If using a roll of paper towels, cut the roll in half using a sharp pair of scissors. This will create smaller sheets that are easier to handle and store.

Step 4: Measure the Isopropyl Alcohol

Measure out enough isopropyl alcohol to fully saturate the paper towels or cloth. The amount needed will depend on the size and absorbency of your chosen material.

Step 5: Pour Alcohol into Container

Pour the measured isopropyl alcohol into an airtight container or resealable plastic bag.

Step 6: Place Paper Towels or Cloth in Container

Put the paper towel or cloth into the container with alcohol, making sure it’s fully submerged.

Step 7: Let it Soak

Allow the material to soak for a few minutes, ensuring that every sheet is saturated with alcohol.

Step 8: Seal the Container

Close the airtight container or zip up the plastic bag securely. This will help keep your wipes moist for future use.

Step 9: Label Your Container

Label your container with a reminder of what’s inside, specifically mentioning that it contains alcohol and the date you made it.

Step 10: Store Properly

Store your alcohol wipes in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources, to prevent evaporation and maintain effectiveness.

Step 11: Using Your Alcohol Wipes

When you need to use an alcohol wipe, simply pull a sheet from the container and gently squeeze out any excess liquid.

Step 12: Dispose of Used Wipes

After using an alcohol wipe, discard it responsibly in a trash bin. Do not flush them down the toilet, as they may cause plumbing issues.

Step 13: Replenish as Needed

Keep an eye on your supply of alcohol wipes. When you notice they’re running low or drying out, make a new batch following the steps above.

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject.
