How to Make a Paper Jet Airplane

Introduction
Paper airplanes have been a well-loved pastime for generations. With origins dating back to ancient China, these simple yet fascinating contraptions still manage to captivate both children and adults alike. In this article, we will walk you through the steps of creating a paper jet airplane. This sleek, aerodynamic design will impress anyone who witnesses its flight!
Materials Needed:
1. An 8.5″ x 11″ letter-size paper (or A4)
2. A flat surface to fold the paper on
3. Optional: Ruler or bone folder for precise creases
Steps to Create Your Paper Jet Airplane:
Step 1: Fold the Paper in Half
Place your paper on the flat surface with the long edge horizontally in front of you. Fold it in half vertically, creating a center crease. Unfold it again.
Step 2: Create the Nose
Take the top right corner and fold it down so that the top edge meets the center crease, forming a triangle. Do the same with the top left corner, resulting in a symmetrical shape that resembles a house.
Step 3: Repeat Nose Configuration
Fold each new triangular-shaped,top corner created in step 2 down along the center crease until it meets the point where the first folded edges converge.
Step 4: Create Wings
Fold both halves of the upper section towards you along their respective edges with the long edge parallel to the center crease. The bottom edges should meet flawlessly at this point.
Step 5: Fold Wing Tips
Working on one side at a time, fold each top portion of your wings back up so they align with the outer edge of your triangular-shaped body section, creating evenly-sized wing flaps.
Step 6: Forming Final Body Shape
Carefully re-fold your paper along its existing vertical center crease, taking note to tuck in the triangular body section and ensure it is compact. Your jet airplane should now have the bottom point of the triangle serving as its nose, while the wings lay flat on top of one another.
Step 7: Spread Wings and Flaps
Hold your paper jet by the center crease along with the triangle-body section. Gently push down on both wing flaps until they’re parallel to one another (approximately 90 degrees from the body).
Step 8: Finishing Touches
Finally, add any personal touches, such as designs or decorations, to make your paper jet uniquely yours. You may write your pilot name on it or stick a small sticker representing your imaginary airline.
Now that your paper jet airplane is complete, you can look forward to countless hours of enjoyment. Experiment with different throwing techniques and angles to see which achieves the best flight for your new jet. Paper jets are not just toys—they also provide an opportunity to learn about aerodynamics and aviation principles in a fun, hands-on manner! Happy flying!
