Google Docs is a great tool for creating and sharing documents. One of the features of this tool that is often overlooked is the ability to create charts and graphs. Whether you’re working on a school project, a business report, or just want to visualize some data, Google Docs has got you covered. In this article, we’ll take a look at how to make a chart in Google Docs.

Step 1: Open a New Document

The first thing you’ll need to do is open a new document in Google Docs. If you’re not already signed in, you’ll need to sign in to your Google account. Once you’re signed in, click on the “New” button in the left-hand corner of the screen and select “Google Docs” from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Insert a Chart

Once you have your new document open, navigate to the “Insert” menu at the top of the page, and select “Chart.” This will bring up a new dialog box where you can choose the type of chart you want to create.

Step 3: Choose Your Chart Type

Google Docs offers several types of charts, including line charts, scatter charts, bar charts, and pie charts. Choose the one that fits your needs best. You can hover over each chart type to see a preview of what it will look like.

Step 4: Enter Your Data

After selecting your preferred chart type, you’ll be taken to a new sheet where you can enter your data. Depending on the type of chart you’ve selected, you may need to enter your data in a specific format. For example, if you’re creating a pie chart, you’ll need to enter your data as percentages.

Step 5: Customize Your Chart

Once you have entered your data, you can customize your chart. You can change the colors, fonts, chart title, axis labels, chart style, and more. You can configure your chart by clicking on the customize button to the right of the chart.

Step 6: Inserting Your Chart

Once you’re done customizing your chart, click on the “Insert” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Your chart will now be inserted into your document as an image.

Step 7: Update Your Chart

In case you need to update your charts with new data, you can simply click on the chart on your document. Then go to the customize and edit your data. Finally, click on the “Update” button.
