Sparkling candles, also known as fountain candles or ice fountains, are a fun and festive addition to any celebration. These candles emit a shower of sparks when lit, creating a dazzling display that’s perfect for birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, and more. If you’ve never used sparkling candles before, you may be unsure how to light them safely and effectively. Follow these seven easy steps to ensure the perfect sparkling candle display.

1.Gather your materials: To light sparking candles, you will need the following items:

– Sparkling candles

– A long-reach lighter or long matchsticks

– A pair of scissors or a knife (optional)

– A fire extinguisher or water buckets (for safety)

2.Prepare the candle(s): Before lighting your sparkling candle(s), ensure that they are securely attached to the cake or centerpiece you plan on using them with. Most sparkling candles come with a plastic base or picks that can be inserted into the cake. If your candles are without these attachments, use the scissors or knife to create a small hole in the cake and carefully insert the candle.

3.Clear the area: Make sure there is enough space around your cake or centerpiece for the sparks to fly without coming into contact with anything flammable. Remove any flammable materials, such as paper decorations or other candles, from the area.

4.Safety first: Before lighting your sparkling candle(s), have a fire extinguisher or water bucket nearby in case of emergency. Ensure all guests are at a safe distance from the display.

5.Light your candle(s): Using your long-reach lighter or long matchsticks, ignite the tip of each sparkling candle one at a time. Hold the lighter or matchstick close enough to the tip for it to catch fire but not so close as to burn your fingers. Lighting several sparkling candles together at the same time can create an impressive display but will require extra care to achieve safely.

6.Enjoy the display: As the candles spark, take a step back and enjoy the show! Sparkling candles typically last around 30-45 seconds, so be sure to grab any desired photos or videos during this time.

7.Safely extinguish: Never attempt to blow out a sparkling candle like a traditional candle. The sparks can easily spread or cause burns. Instead, allow your sparkling candles to burn out on their own outside or in a well-ventilated area where they won’t pose a fire risk. Alternatively, you can douse them with water from your safety bucket or use a fire extinguisher if necessary.

By following these seven simple steps, you can create a stunning and memorable sparkling candle display for your next celebration, ensuring both safety and fun for all involved.
