As a user of Mac devices, you may have multiple applications running simultaneously on your screen. These applications may compete for screen space and hinder your productivity. Fortunately, you can keep one application window “always on top” to enhance your multitasking ability. This feature will prevent other windows from popping up and obstructing your workflow. Below are strategies on how to keep your Application Window “Always on Top” in Mac.

Method 1: Pin application window using keyboard shortcuts.

This method involves using keyboard shortcuts to pin the Application Window. It is a quick and simple method that requires only two keys. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Start by selecting the application window you wish to maintain “always on top” by clicking on it.

Step 2: Hold down the following keys simultaneously: Command + Option + AOT (the letter T)

Step 3: The Application Window will now have a visible pin icon in the top left corner. This icon indicates that the window is “always on top.”

Step 4: To undo “always on top,” click on the pin icon to remove it from the top left corner of the application window.

Method 2: Use the Afloat App.

Afloat App is a third-party software created to enable users to keep their application window “always on top” on Mac. It is a small, lightweight app and easy to install. Here’s how to use it:

Step 1: Begin with downloading the Afloat App from the internet and install it on your Mac.

Step 2: Launch the Application Window you want to pin, then right-click on its name from the Dock.

Step 3: Select “Afloat” from the menu and select “Always on Top” to pin the application window.

Step 4: To undo “always on top,” right-click on the app again and select “Always on Top” to unpin the application window.

Method 3: Use Magnet App.

Magnet App is another third-party software available to Mac users to enable them to keep their application window “always on top”. It allows users to drag and drop an application window to the edge of the screen and “snap” it into place. Here’s how to use it:

Step 1: Start by downloading the Magnet App from the internet and install it on your Mac.

Step 2: Open the Application Window and move it to the side of the screen you want to pin it.

Step 3: Drag the Application Window until it snaps into the “always on top” mode.

Step 4: To undo “always on top,” drag the window away from the side of the screen and release.

In Conclusion

Keeping your Application Window “Always on Top” can improve your productivity and multitasking ability while using your Mac. The strategies outlined above are easy to use and take only a few minutes. Users can choose to use the keyboard shortcuts, install Afloat App, or Magnet App. Start using the “always on top” technique to maintain uninterrupted workflow and reduce application switching time.
