How to Keep Track of Your Kids With Geofences

As a parent, it is important to know where your children are at all times, especially if they are young and vulnerable. One way to ensure their safety and your peace of mind is by using geofences. Geofencing is a technology that uses GPS to create a virtual boundary around a particular area. Once the child steps out of the designated area, you will receive a notification on your phone.

Here are some steps to use Geofences to monitor your child’s location:

1. Set up the geofences

The first step is to set up the geofences. This can be done by using a smartphone app that supports geofencing technology. You can then create a boundary around your child’s school or home, and set the app to notify you if your child leaves that area.

2. Use location tracking

Make sure that your child’s smartphone or wearable device supports location tracking. This will allow you to see their exact location in real-time, even if they are outside the geofenced area.

3. Use emergency alerts

Many geofencing apps also offer emergency alert features, which can be triggered if your child leaves a designated area or if their smartphone battery dies. These alerts can be sent to your phone or to local authorities, depending on the app settings.

4. Set boundaries

It is important to discuss the boundaries with your child before setting up the geofences. Let them know what areas are designated as safe zones and the consequences that come with leaving those areas. This will create a sense of mutual understanding and help your child stay within the designated boundaries.

5. Regularly check in

It is important to check in with your child regularly to make sure that they are safe and within the designated areas. If you notice that your child is frequently leaving the safe zones, it may be time to revisit the boundaries and adjust them to better suit their needs.

Geofencing technology is a great tool for parents to keep a watchful eye on their children. It can help create a sense of security for both parent and child while also allowing a level of independence for the child. By setting up geofences, parents can ensure their child’s safety without having to feel like they are constantly watching over their shoulder.
