VirtualBox is a popular virtualization platform that allows users to run multiple operating systems on a single computer. It is free and open-source software that allows for the creation of virtual machines (VMs) that can run different operating systems like Windows, macOS, Linux, and more. VirtualBox enables users to run these VMs efficiently on their host computer system.

To enhance the features and capabilities of VirtualBox, users can install Extension Packs. An Extension Pack is a set of additional features and functionalities that are not present in the VirtualBox application. It contains useful features like USB 2.0 and 3.0 support, VirtualBox Remote Desktop Protocol (VRDP) support, and more.

In this article, we will guide you through the steps to install VirtualBox Extension Pack.

Step 1: Download the Extension Pack

To install the Extension Pack, we need to download it first. To download the VirtualBox Extension Pack, access the VirtualBox website and navigate to the Downloads section. Choose the matching version of the extension pack as your VirtualBox application. For example, if you have VirtualBox version 6.0.20, then download the extension pack version 6.0.20.

Step 2: Install the Extension Pack

Once you have downloaded the Extension Pack, launch VirtualBox on your host computer. On the main program window, navigate to File > Preferences > Extensions. This will open the VirtualBox Extension Manager.

In the VirtualBox Extension Manager, click on the Add button to add a new Extension Pack. Browse and select the downloaded Extension Pack (with .vbox-extpack file extension), and click on the Open button. You will see a warning message about the license agreement. Read through the license agreement and then click on the Agree button.

The next step is to authenticate the installation using your credentials (if required). Once authenticated, the extension pack will be installed. It will take a few seconds to complete the installation process.

Step 3: Verify the Extension Pack Installation

To ensure that the Extension Pack is successfully installed, navigate back to the VirtualBox Extension Manager. You should see the newly installed Extension Pack on the list of installed extensions. The status of the extension should be marked as Active.

That’s it! You have successfully installed VirtualBox Extension Pack. With the extension pack, you can now enjoy additional features that were previously unavailable in VirtualBox.

VirtualBox is a powerful tool for virtual machine management, and the Extension Pack adds many useful features and functionalities to the platform. With a few simple steps, you can quickly install the Extension Pack and take advantage of all its benefits. This article has provided a step-by-step guide on how to install VirtualBox Extension Pack. We hope this article helps you enhance your VirtualBox experience.
