Step 1: Prepare the Area and Gather Tools

Before beginning, make sure to turn off the water supply at the shut-off valve and flush the old toilet to drain any remaining water. Remove the old toilet and clean the flange, which is the ring where the toilet will be mounted. You’ll need the following tools for installation: adjustable wrench, tape measure, level, putty knife, closet bolts, wax ring, and a Toto toilet.

Step 2: Position and Align the Flange

Place the new wax ring onto the flange with the plastic side facing down. Ensure that it is centered over the drain hole. Insert closet bolts into the slots on both sides of the flange and slide them outwards slightly, so they are aligned with the center of the drain hole.

Step 3: Place the Toilet Bowl

Carefully lower the Toto toilet bowl onto the wax ring while aligning its holes with closet bolts. Gently rock it back and forth to compress the wax ring and establish a watertight seal. Using a level, ensure that it’s perfectly even from left to right and front to back.

Next, prepare Toto’s tank by installing mounting hardware according to manufacturer instructions. Carefully place it onto your bowl so that mounting bolts align with corresponding holes—gently tightening nuts until tank sits flush against bowl.

Step 5: Connect the Water Supply Line and Test

Connect water supply line to the fill valve at the bottom of the tank—making sure to hand-tighten connections only. Turn on the water supply, allowing the tank to fill up. Check for any leaks around base and connection joints. If everything is watertight, perform a test flush to ensure proper operation.
