The Nest Hello Doorbell bridges the gap between traditional doorbells and the world of smart home technology. With features like high-quality HD video, two-way audio, and a robust mobile app, the Nest Hello makes it easy to monitor and secure your front porch. In this article, we will guide you through the steps on how to properly install a Nest Hello Doorbell.

Step 1: Check your doorbell system compatibility

Before starting any installation process, it’s essential to verify that your current doorbell system is compatible with the Nest Hello Doorbell. To make sure your existing setup works with the device, visit the Nest Compatibility Checker and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 2: Gather tools and materials

Before installing your Nest Hello Doorbell, here are some necessary tools and materials you will need:

– Nest Hello Doorbell

– Screwdriver

– Power drill

– Drill bits (1/8″ and 15/64″)

– Wire stripper

– Needle-nose pliers

– Safety glasses (recommended)

Step 3: Turn off power to your existing doorbell

To ensure safety during installation, switch off the power supply to your existing doorbell by turning off the corresponding circuit breaker in your home’s electrical panel.

Step 4: Remove your existing doorbell

Using a screwdriver, remove your old doorbell from its mounting spot. Take note of how the wiring is connected to the existing doorbell as it will be helpful when connecting wires to your new Nest Hello.

Step 5: Install the mounting bracket

Line up the mounting bracket with the screw holes previously used by your old doorbell. Use the provided screws in the Nest kit to secure it firmly onto your wall. Ensure that it is level before tightening.

Step 6: Connect wires to your Nest Hello Doorbell

Take one wire from your doorbell system and wrap it around the terminal screw labeled “T1” on the back of the Nest Hello. Use needle-nose pliers to ensure a tight connection. Repeat this process for the second wire and connect it to the “T2” terminal.

Step 7: Attach the Nest Hello to the mounting bracket

Place your Nest Hello Doorbell over the mounting bracket, aligning it with the hooks on either side. Gently but firmly press down on the device until it clicks into place.

Step 8: Install a new chime connector

The Nest Hello requires a chime connector, included in your kit, to function correctly with your existing chime system. Locate your existing chime box and remove its cover. Then, follow the provided installation instructions dedicated to the chime connector in your kit.

Step 9: Turn power back on

Switch back on the circuit breaker that you turned off earlier. Your Nest Hello Doorbell should now be powered on and ready for setup.

Step 10: Set up your Nest Hello through the app

Install the Nest app on your smartphone if you haven’t already. Follow in-app instructions to create an account and locate your Nest Hello Doorbell from the list of available devices. The app will guide you through pairing it with your home Wi-Fi network and configuring advanced settings.

Congratulations! Your Nest Hello Doorbell is now installed and ready to use. Enjoy enhanced security, convenience, and peace of mind as you monitor your front porch with this innovative smart home device.
