Google Docs is a popular word processor that is used by millions of people around the world. It is an online tool that offers a range of features to help you create and manage documents. One of the most basic and essential features of Google Docs is the ability to insert lines. Whether you want to add a horizontal or vertical line to your document, Google Docs makes it easy for you to do so. In this article, we will show you how to insert a vertical or horizontal line in Google Docs.

Inserting a Horizontal Line

Step 1: Open Google Docs

First, open Google Docs from your computer’s web browser.

Step 2: Place the Cursor

Place your cursor where you want to insert the horizontal line in the document.

Step 3: Go to the Insert Menu

Next, click on the “Insert” menu in the top menu bar.

Step 4: Select Horizontal Line

From the Insert menu, select “Horizontal line” option.

Step 5: Customize the Line

Once you insert the horizontal line, you can customize its thickness, color, and length by clicking on the line. A dotted line will appear around it, and a new toolbar will pop up with different options for customization.

Step 6: Adjust the Line

Finally, you can adjust the position and length of the horizontal line by clicking and dragging it wherever you want it to be.

Inserting a Vertical Line

Step 1: Open Google Docs

Just like with inserting a horizontal line, the first step to inserting a vertical line in Google Docs is to open up the application on your computer’s web browser.

Step 2: Place the Cursor
Place your cursor where you want to insert the vertical line in the document.

Step 3: Go to the Insert Menu

Next, click on the “Insert” menu in the top menu bar.

Step 4: Select Drawing Option

From the “Insert” menu, hover over the “Drawing” option, and then click on the “New” option that appears.

Step 5: Create the Line

Once you are in the drawing area, go to the “Line” tool, and select the “Vertical line” option. Using your mouse, click and drag to draw the line.

Step 6: Customize the Line

You can customize the color, thickness, and length of the line using the toolbar that appears when you click on the vertical line.

Step 7: Insert the Line

Once you have customized the vertical line according to your preference, click on the “Save and Close” button to insert it into your document.

Conclusion

Both horizontal and vertical lines are essential in making documents organized and professional-looking. With Google Docs, it is a breeze to add a horizontal or vertical line to your document. Follow the simple steps we have outlined above, and you will have a line inserted into your document in no time.
