Introduction:

If you’re looking to impress your friends on the dance floor, learning the “Hit the Quan” dance is the way to go. The dance, made famous by rapper iLoveMemphis in his viral song “Hit the Quan,” has taken the world by storm. With these 14 simple steps, you’ll be ready to show off your moves in no time.

Step 1:

Begin by standing upright with your feet shoulder-width apart.

Step 2:

Bend your knees slightly to lower yourself into a squatting position.

Step 3:

While in this position, lean forward slightly and place your hands on your hips.

Step 4:

Swing your arms back and forth while keeping them bent at the elbows. This movement should resemble a chicken flapping its wings.

Step 5:

As you swing your arms, also rock your hips side-to-side.

Step 6:

Maintain a steady rhythm while swinging your arms and rocking your hips for several beats.

Step 7:

Bring your right arm up towards your chest as you move into an exaggerated running stance. Your left arm should be behind you with both arms bent at the elbows.

Step 8:

Hip thrust forward with the beat as you maintain this stance. Repeat this for several beats.

Step 9:

Switch sides, bringing up your left arm and left leg to mimic a running motion. Hip thrust forward again and repeat until you’ve done several repetitions on each side.

Step 10:

Next, perform a body roll. Begin by tilting your head back and moving through each body part—upper torso, midsection, pelvis—each one rolling forward in succession. End with a hip thrust forward for added flair.

Step 11:

Repeat steps 1 through 10 while moving to the right for about five paces before reversing directions and moving to the left.

Step 12:

Once you’ve mastered these movements, it’s time to add in some footwork. Kick your right foot up behind you and quickly step down as you swing your left foot around and in front of you. This movement should mimic a skipping motion.

Step 13:

Continue moving left and right, adding the skip into your dance routine.

Step 14:

To finish off strong, flex your arms or strike a pose when iLoveMemphis says, “Hit the Quan!” in the song to punctuate your performance.

Conclusion:

Now that you’ve learned the 14 steps to “Hit the Quan,” you’re ready to put together an impressive dance routine. Remember, practice makes perfect—so don’t be discouraged if it takes some time to perfect your moves. With dedication and style, you’ll have everyone on the dance floor wanting to learn how to Hit the Quan too!
