Gmail’s IMAP service allows users to access their Gmail account on third-party email clients such as Microsoft Outlook. However, not all users want to see all their Gmail folders and labels on their email client. Fortunately, there is a way to hide folders and labels in Gmail IMAP.

Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps to hide folders and labels in Gmail IMAP:

1. Log in to your Gmail account on your web browser.

2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.

3. Click on the “Labels” tab.

4. Scroll down to the label you want to hide and click on “Show if unread” to uncheck the box.

5. If you want to hide a folder, click on “Labels” in the top menu and then click on “Create new label” at the bottom of the list.

6. Name the new label something like “Hidden” or “Archive” and click “Create”.

7. Open your email client and go to the settings for your Gmail account.

8. Find the option to subscribe to folders or labels and uncheck the box next to the label or folder you want to hide.

9. If you created a new label, check the box next to the new label you created.

That’s it! The folder or label you selected should now be hidden in your email client.

Conclusion

Hiding folders and labels in Gmail IMAP can be useful for users who don’t want to see all their Gmail folders and labels on their email client. Follow the step-by-step guide above to easily hide the folders and labels you don’t want to see.
