How to Grill Ham Slices: 12 Steps

Grilling ham slices is an excellent way to enjoy this delicious cut of meat. Follow these 12 simple steps to create a mouthwatering grilled ham dish that’s perfect for your next cookout or family meal.

1. Choose quality ham: Select a high-quality, boneless ham slice that’s at least 1/2-inch thick. Look for a slice with an even distribution of fat to ensure even cooking and juicy flavor.

2. Trim the excess fat: If there’s too much fat on the edges, trim it down using a sharp knife but leave about 1/8-inch of fat for flavor.

3. Prepare the grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (approximately 375°F). Clean the grates with a grill brush to remove any debris.

4. Season the ham: Combine your preferred seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika, in a small bowl. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly onto both sides of the ham slice.

5. Oil the grates: Lightly oil the grill grates using a clean cloth or paper towel dipped in vegetable oil. This will help prevent the ham from sticking to the grill.

6. Grill the first side: Place the seasoned ham slice directly onto the hot grates and let it cook for about 4 minutes without touching or moving it around. This time will allow for nice grill marks and caramelization on surface.

7. Flip and baste: Using tongs or a spatula, carefully flip the ham slice onto its other side and baste it with your choice of glaze or sauce (e.g., honey mustard, brown sugar, pineapple juice). Continue grilling for 4 more minutes.

8. Check for doneness: Use an instant-read meat thermometer to check if your ham has reached an internal temperature of at least 145°F. If it hasn’t, cook for another minute or two until reaching the desired temperature.

9. Rest the grilled ham: Transfer the ham slice to a clean plate or cutting board, and let it rest for about 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat, yielding a more tender and flavorful result.

10. Slice and serve: After resting, cut the grilled ham slice into smaller serving portions using a sharp knife. Arrange them on a serving platter.

11. Garnish and add sides:[Assistant:]:

Garnish your grilled ham slices with fresh herbs, such as parsley or cilantro, for an added pop of color and flavor. Serve alongside your favorite side dishes, like grilled asparagus, pineapple rings, or corn on the cob.

12. Enjoy!: Sit back and savor your perfectly grilled ham slices with family and friends. Bon appétit!

Now you have a comprehensive guide to grilling ham slices that you can follow for your next BBQ gathering or home-cooked dinner. Enjoy!
