How to Get an Industrial Piercing

Introduction:

An industrial piercing, also known as a scaffold or bar piercing, involves connecting two or more piercings through a single piece of jewelry. This type of piercing is trendy and unique, most commonly seen on the upper ear cartilage. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of getting an industrial piercing and share some useful tips for a seamless experience.

Step 1: Research and Find an Experienced Piercer

The first step towards getting an industrial piercing is selecting a professional piercer with experience in this specific type of body modification. Start by doing some online research, looking for local studios with good reviews, and checking out social media profiles to see pictures of their previous work. Always prioritize a piercer’s experience, cleanliness, and professionalism over the price when choosing a studio.

Step 2: Schedule a Consultation

Before getting your industrial piercing, it’s essential to discuss your expectations, concerns, and preferences with the piercer during a consultation. The piercer will examine your ear anatomy to determine if it’s suitable for an industrial piercing and help you choose the appropriate jewelry.

Step 3: Prepare Yourself

If you’re cleared for the procedure after the consultation, mentally prepare yourself for the experience. Keep in mind that industrial piercings can cause some discomfort since they involve two separate punctures. Eat well before your appointment to maintain stable blood sugar levels and avoid alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior.

Step 4: The Piercing Process

Your piercer will start the process by thoroughly cleaning both the front and back of your ear with an antiseptic solution. They will then mark the entry and exit points where the needle will pass through accurately. After clamping your cartilage to hold it in place, they’ll insert a sterilized needle through each marked point before securing the jewelry.

Step 5: Aftercare

Proper aftercare is critical for a successful industrial piercing healing process. Your piercer will provide you with detailed instructions, but general guidelines include:

– Cleaning the area with a saline solution twice a day

– Avoiding touching the piercing with dirty hands

– Not removing or twisting the jewelry

– Refraining from swimming in pools, hot tubs, or open water until the piercing is fully healed

The healing process for an industrial piercing can take anywhere from 3 to 12 months, depending on your body, how well you follow aftercare instructions, and other factors.

Conclusion:

An industrial piercing is an excellent choice for those looking for a unique and eye-catching body modification. By following the steps outlined above and giving your piercing proper care and attention during the healing process, you’ll enjoy a healthy and stylish new addition to your body.
