YouTube is the most popular video-sharing platform, with millions of users accessing it every day. It offers a vast collection of videos on various topics, including education, entertainment, music, and much more. However, while streaming videos on YouTube, many users face an audio stuttering issue, especially on Google Chrome. This audio stuttering problem can be frustrating for users, making it difficult to enjoy the video content to its fullest. But, don’t worry, we have a few solutions to help you fix YouTube audio stuttering on Chrome for Windows that can get you back to enjoying your favorite videos in no time.

Method 1: Updating Google Chrome

The first solution to fix the audio stuttering issue is to check if the Google Chrome browser has the latest update. Follow the below steps:

1. Open Google Chrome browser

2. In the top-right corner, click on three vertical dots

3. Then, click on Help and then About Google Chrome

4. Chrome will check for the latest updates, and if it finds any, it will download and install them automatically.

5. Once the update is done, restart your browser and check if the issue persists.

Method 2: Disable Hardware Acceleration in Chrome

If you are still facing the audio stuttering issue on YouTube, try disabling hardware acceleration in Google Chrome. The hardware acceleration uses the graphics card’s resources to reduce the burden on the CPU. However, sometimes it can cause an audio stuttering problem. To disable hardware acceleration, follow these steps:

1. Open Google Chrome browser

2. In the top-right corner, click on three vertical dots

3. Then, click on Settings

4. Scroll down and click on Advanced

5. Again scroll down, until you find the System section

6. Turn off the toggle that says “Use hardware acceleration when available”

7. Restart Google Chrome and check if the audio stuttering problem has been resolved.

Method 3: Clearing Browsing Data

Clearing the browsing data can also help you fix the audio stuttering problem in Chrome. To clear browsing data follow these steps:

1. Open Google Chrome browser

2. In the top-right corner, click on three vertical dots

3. Then, click on More Tools and select Clear browsing data

4. In the clear browsing data window, select the time range to remove browsing data

5. Select the checkboxes next to Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files

6. Click on the Clear Data button

7. Close the browser and re-open it. Now, check if the audio stuttering problem still exists.

Method 4: Disabling Extensions

Extensions can be the reason for the audio stuttering issue in Chrome. To check if it’s true, try disabling extensions in Chrome.

1. Open Google Chrome browser
2. In the top-right corner, click on three vertical dots

3. Then, click on More tools and select Extensions

4. Turn off the toggle next to each extension to disable it

5. Close and restart the browser, and check if the issue has been resolved.

Conclusion

These are some of the methods that can help you fix the YouTube audio stuttering problem in Chrome on Windows. Updating Chrome, disabling hardware acceleration, clearing browsing data, and disabling extensions are proven methods. However, if none of these solutions worked, you may want to try an alternative browser. Most of the browsers support YouTube, including Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and more. If the audio stuttering issue persists, contact Google Chrome support for further assistance.
