Windows 10 and Windows 11 are popular operating systems used by millions of people across the world. However, sometimes users may experience issues with opening certain apps on their PC. The error message “This app can’t open” can be frustrating, especially if you need the app for work or important tasks. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to fix this common issue.

Here are some effective solutions to try:

1. Run a System Scan

Sometimes, the reason why an app won’t open is due to corruption or damage of system files. Running a system scan can help identify and repair any issues with your system files. Follow these steps to run a system scan:

• Open the Start menu and type “cmd”

• Right-click Command Prompt and select “Run as administrator”

• Type “sfc/scannow” and press Enter

• Wait for the scan to complete

2. Update Windows

Outdated versions of Windows can cause compatibility issues with newer apps. Make sure your PC is running the latest version of Windows by checking for updates. Here are the steps to follow:

• Open the Start menu and select “Settings”

• Click “Update & Security”

• Select “Check for updates”

• Install any available updates

3. Reinstall the App

If an app won’t open, it may be due to a problem with the app itself. Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it to see if this resolves the issue. Here are the steps to follow:

• Open the Start menu and select “Settings”

• Click “Apps”

• Find the app causing the problem and select it

• Click “Uninstall”

• Go to the Microsoft Store or the app developer’s website and download a fresh copy of the app

4. Check App Permissions

Sometimes, apps require certain permissions to run properly. If you deny these permissions, it can cause the app not to open. Follow these steps to ensure the app has the necessary permissions:

• Open the Start menu and select “Settings”

• Click “Privacy”

• Select “App permissions”

• Check that the app has the necessary permissions enabled

5. Disable Antivirus Software

Antivirus software is designed to protect your PC by scanning files and apps for potential threats. However, sometimes antivirus software can mistakenly identify apps as threats and prevent them from opening. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus software and see if the app will open.

In conclusion, getting the “This app can’t open” error message on Windows 10 and 11 can be frustrating, but there are various solutions to try. By following the tips listed above, you should be able to fix the issue and get your app to run properly.
