The “D3D11-compatible GPU” error can be a frustrating issue for Windows 11/10 users, especially for those who are fond of playing games. The error occurs when a system does not recognize the GPU or graphics card of the device, resulting in an inability to run certain programs or games. Fortunately, there are several solutions to fix this issue. In this article, we will discuss the various methods to resolve the “D3D11-compatible GPU” error.

Method 1: Update Your Graphics Card Driver

The primary reason behind the “D3D11-compatible GPU” error is outdated or missing graphics card drivers. You can manually update the drivers by following the below steps:

Step 1: Press the Windows + X keys simultaneously to open Device Manager.

Step 2: Click on the “Display Adapters” category to expand it.

Step 3: Right-click the graphics card, and select the “Update Driver” option.

Step 4: Choose the automatic update option, and if there is an available update, it will be installed.

Method 2: Uninstall and Reinstall Graphics Card Driver

If the automatic driver update option doesn’t work, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics card driver manually. Follow the below steps to do so:

Step 1: From the “Display Adapter” section of Device Manager, right-click the graphics card and select “Uninstall Device.”

Step 2: Restart your computer.

Step 3: Visit the manufacturer’s website of the graphics card and manually download and install the latest driver.

Method 3: Run System File Checker (SFC) Scan

Running an SFC scan can help fix any corrupted or missing files in Windows that may be causing the “D3D11-compatible GPU” error. Follow the below steps:

Step 1: Press the Windows + X key simultaneously and select “Command Prompt (Admin)” from the list.

Step 2: Type in “sfc /scannow” and press Enter.

Step 3: Allow the System File Checker to run its full course; this may take some time.

Step 4: After the scan is complete, restart your computer.

Method 4: Reinstall Microsoft DirectX

If the above methods fail to resolve the issue, reinstalling Microsoft DirectX can be another solution. Follow the below steps:

Step 1: Press the Windows + R key, type in “appwiz.cpl,” and press Enter to open the Programs & Features window.

Step 2: Locate the “Microsoft DirectX” entry and then click on it to highlight the program.

Step 3: Select the “Uninstall” button at the top of the window and follow the uninstallation process.

Step 4: Restart your computer.

Step 5: Download the latest version of Microsoft DirectX and install it on your PC.
