A sagging couch can be an eyesore and an uncomfortable place to sit. Over time, couch cushions can lose their shape and support, causing them to sag. This can be due to a variety of factors, such as age, weight, or poor construction. Fortunately, there are several methods you can use to fix a sagging couch and restore it to its former glory. Here are 14 steps to help you breathe new life into your old couch:

1. Assess the problem: Before you begin repairing your sagging couch, it’s essential to determine the cause of the issue. Check for damaged or broken springs, worn-out cushions, or a weak frame.

2. Replace the cushions: If your couch cushions have lost their shape and support, consider purchasing new ones or refilling them with fresh foam or batting.

3. Add extra support: Placing a piece of plywood or particleboard under the cushions can provide additional support and help keep them from sagging further.

4. Repair springs: If broken or damaged springs are causing your couch to sag, you may need to repair or replace them.

5. Fix a weak frame: A weak frame can contribute to a sagging couch. Reinforce any loose joints with wood glue and screws for added stability.

6. Flip cushions regularly: To prevent uneven wear on your couch cushions, turn them over every few weeks so that they wear evenly over time.

7. Use slats for added support: Wooden slats can provide additional support across the base of your couch, helping to distribute weight more evenly and reduce sagging.

8. Add a cushioned base: Placing an extra layer of foam or batting beneath the couch’s main cushion can help improve its overall support and comfort.

9. Tighten loose screws and bolts: Loose hardware may cause your couch’s frame to loosen and sag. Check all screws and bolts and tighten as necessary.

10. Add additional padding: If the couch’s cushions are too thin, consider adding extra padding to make them more supportive and comfortable.

11. Use a furniture lift: A furniture lift can provide additional support to the base of your couch, helping to improve its overall stability and reduce sagging.

12. Replace worn-out sofa legs: If your couch’s legs are damaged or worn, replace them with new ones for improved support and stability.

13. Re-webbing: Adding new webbing to your couch’s base can reinforce its overall structure and help prevent sagging.

14. Consult a professional: If all else fails, contacting a professional upholstery or furniture repair specialist can ensure that your sagging couch receives the proper care and attention it needs to be restored to its former glory.

By following these steps, you can fix your sagging couch and enjoy a comfy, inviting seating area once again. Remember, it’s essential to address any issues as soon as possible to prevent further damage and preserve the lifespan of your couch.
