Step 1: Install the Skype app

To get started, make sure you have the Skype app installed on your device, whether it’s a desktop computer, smartphone, or tablet.

Step 2: Create an account or sign in

If you don’t already have a Skype account, create one by following the on-screen instructions. If you have an existing account, simply sign in using your email address, phone number or username, and your password.

Step 3: Navigate to the search bar

Once you’re signed in to Skype, locate the search bar at the top of your screen or within the app.

Step 4: Type in your search query

Type in the name, email address, or phone number of the person you are trying to find. You can also type in a specific city or country if you know where they are located.

Step 5: Be specific

To refine your search results and ensure that you find the right person among potentially hundreds of users with similar names, try providing additional information like their full name and location.

Step 6: Browse the search results

Scroll through the list of users that appear based on your search query. You may need to click “See more results” to expand the list and view more profiles.

Step 7: Identify their profile picture

Take note of each person’s profile picture while scrolling through the list, as this can sometimes help identify someone even if their name is common.

Step 8: Check mutual connections

If available, check mutual connections between you and each potential match. This can further help in narrowing down your options.

Step 9: Click on their profile

Once you’ve identified a person who seems like a potential match based on their name, picture or mutual connections, click on their profile for more information about them.

Step 10: Verify profile details

To ensure that you’ve found the correct person, carefully review their profile details, including their location and any information in their “About” section.

Step 11: Send a contact request

If you’re confident that you’ve found the right person, go ahead and send them a contact request by clicking the “Add to Contacts” button. You can also include a personalized message in your request to let them know who you are and why you’d like to connect.

With these 11 steps, you’re now well-equipped to find and connect with old friends, family members, or colleagues on Skype. Happy Skyping!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
