Introduction:

Calculating the percentage of a number might seem daunting, but with the help of an adequate calculator, it becomes quick and easy. In this article, we will discuss how to find a percentage of a number using a calculator.

Step 1: Understand the percentage formula

The first step in finding the percentage of a number is to familiarize yourself with the formula. The formula for calculating the percentage of a number is as follows:

Percentage = (Part/Whole) × 100

Step 2: Identify the ‘part’ and ‘whole’ values

When working with percentages, it’s essential to know which value represents the ‘part’ and which represents the ‘whole’. The whole represents the total amount or 100%, and the part represents the portion or fraction you want to calculate.

For instance, if you want to find what percentage 30 is of 150:

Whole = 150

Part = 30

Step 3: Use a calculator

Now that you have your whole and part values, grab your calculator. Most calculators come with a percentage function (%). However, if your calculator does not have this feature, you can still use it by following these steps:

1. Divide the ‘part’ by the ‘whole’

In our example, divide 30 by 150:

30 ÷ 150 = 0.2

2. Multiply the result by 100

Now, multiply 0.2 by 100:

0.2 × 100 = 20

Voila! The answer is that 30 is 20% of 150.

Conclusion:

Finding a percentage of a number using a calculator doesn’t have to be complicated! By understanding the formula and identifying part and whole values, anyone can quickly calculate percentages regardless of their math skills or knowledge level. The ability to calculate percentages is invaluable for managing finances, completing school assignments, and improving everyday life activities. So, grab a calculator and start solving!
