If you are an avid PC gamer, you must know the importance of having a good gaming controller. And when it comes to gaming controllers, the Steam Controller is one of the best in the market. But did you know that you can configure the Steam Controller for non-Steam games as well? Yes, you can do that, and in this article, we will guide you through the process.

Before we dive into the steps, let’s understand why you should configure the Steam Controller for non-Steam games. The Steam Controller offers a wide range of customization options, which can significantly enhance your gaming experience. It allows you to tweak the controller settings, map the buttons as per your preference, and even create custom profiles for different games. So, configuring the Steam Controller is undoubtedly a great idea, especially if you play a lot of non-Steam games.

Now, let’s discuss the steps to enable Steam Controller configuration for non-Steam games.

Step 1: Launch Steam and add your non-Steam game to the library.

The first step is to add your non-Steam game to the Steam library. To do that, launch the Steam client and click on the “Games” tab. From there, select “Add a Non-Steam game to My Library.” You will now see a list of non-Steam games installed on your PC. Choose the game you want to add and click on “Add selected programs.”

Step 2: Launch the game from the Steam library.

Once you have added the non-Steam game to your library, you need to launch it from there to enable the Steam Controller configuration. Go to your Steam library and find the game you just added. Double click on it to launch the game.

Step 3: Enable Steam Overlay.

Now that you have launched the game from the Steam library, you need to enable the Steam Overlay. The Steam Overlay allows you to access the Steam Controller configuration settings while gaming. To enable the Steam Overlay, press Shift + Tab while in-game, and the Steam Overlay menu will appear. From there, click on “Settings,” and then “Controller.”

Step 4: Customize the Steam Controller settings.

Once you have enabled the Steam Overlay, click on “Controller” to customize the Steam Controller settings for that particular game. From here, you can map the buttons, assign different functions to the buttons, and even create custom profiles for different games.

Step 5: Save the settings.

After customizing the Steam Controller settings, make sure to save the changes by clicking on the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen.

And there you have it, the steps to enable Steam Controller configuration for non-Steam games. By following these steps, you can easily configure the Steam Controller for any non-Steam game and enjoy a personalized gaming experience.
