Emptying a Diaper Genie may be an intimidating task for new parents or caregivers, but it is an essential skill to master in order to maintain a clean and odor-free environment. Here is a simple step-by-step guide that will help you successfully empty a Diaper Genie with ease

1. Gather supplies: Before starting, make sure you have a garbage bag or pail liner, disposable gloves, and sanitizing wipes within reach.

2. Wash your hands: Prioritize hygiene and ensure your hands are washed thoroughly with soap and water to avoid contamination.

3. Put on gloves: Protect your hands by wearing disposable gloves throughout the process.

4. Open the Diaper Genie: Press the foot pedal located at the bottom of the unit, this should open the top compartment where you dispose dirty diapers.

5. Locate the built-in cutter: Inside the top compartment, you’ll find a built-in plastic cutter labeled “cut here”. This is designed for cutting the plastic bag filled with soiled diapers.

6. Cut the bag: Gently pull upwards on the plastic bag until there’s enough slack for you to cut it using the built-in cutter. Be careful not to overstretch or tear the bag while doing this.

7. Tie off the bag: Now that you have separated the full portion of the bag from the rest of the continuous liner, tie tight knots at both ends of the full bag to seal in odor and prevent leaks.

8. Dispose of dirty diapers: Place the securely tied full bag into an outdoor trash bin (or designated diaper pail) immediately after tying it off.

9. Reset the Diaper Genie: Pull down a fresh section of continuous liner from inside the unit, and knot its end to create another base before closing its top compartment again.

10. Clean up and wash hands: Use sanitizing wipes to clean the foot pedal, cutter, and any other surfaces that may have been touched during the process. Dispose of your gloves and wash your hands thoroughly once again.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to maintain an orderly and hygienic nursery while swiftly tackling the somewhat daunting task of emptying a Diaper Genie. With practice, this routine will become second nature to you in no time.
